Important Information

Presentations will encourage interactive participation and discussion among miners during topical sessions.

Safety topics, subject to presenters, may include:

  • 2023 Fatality Review; in 2023, 40 fatalities. A review of MNM fatalities in our industry. Every year, we see fatal reports where the miner failed to follow known safety practices—failing to wear a seatbelt, etc. A group discussion on what, why, and best practices for prevention.

  • Power Haulage/Mobil Equipment - despite agency emphasis, power haulage remains a top 3 fatality category for MNM. Look at the revised standard/guidelines and how we reduce power haulage/mobile equipment incidents.

  • Predictive Safety, Peter Hay, VP of Customer Success. The Human Factor of Safety. No doubt everyone works hard at safety. Training can be more than reviewing standards. We will examine what miners can control themselves and the effect when we don't. The "why" we do things. Why are there regulations, and how can miners participate in their own safety?

  • An update on proper Respiratory Protection, BMPs, and PPEs.  A discussion on BMP respiratory practices, PPE, equipment training, and use.  An important area of emphasis in many mine site locations.

  • Work Place Exams are always one way to reduce incidents, fatalities, and citation reductions.

First Aid Training requires both classroom and live "hands-on" CPR training. Trainer Jeanne Hanson, EMT-B, Mountain Medic CPR
