The University of Washington's (UW) academic year is u
nderway. Our UW ACI Student Chapter has several exciting changes and opport
unities already underway. First, they have a new Asst. Professor in the Dep
t. of Construction Management, Fred Aguayo. He also serves as the new Faculty Advisor for the student chapter.
Fred has extensive exper
ience and success in working with local ACI professional chapters and stude
nts. Before joining UW, Fred was an Assistant Professor at Texas State Univ
ersity in San Marcos, TX. He taught and performed research in concrete mate
rials, durability, and sustainable infrastructure construction. While at Te
xas State, Fred actively supported the ACI Student Chapter with student com
petitions, scholarships, social events, networking, and preparing students
for ACI certification exams. As Student Liaison, Fred directly connects us
to the students in CM and grows our network with CE. Fred will introduce hi
s vision of connecting students with a focus on concrete materials and his
vision for the CM program and developing the relationship with CE.
Led by Cole Magruder, Student Pres
ident and a Jr in the CM program, they held their 1st meeting, selected the
ir Student Chapter leadership, and added three new positions to their Board
; Treasurer, Event Coordinator, and Social Media manager. They are eager to
work and connect with you in the concrete construction industry and WA ACI
in the Puget Sound.
"We are excited about the event between the official chapter and our chapt
er happening at the end of the month ." - Cole Magruder, UW ACI Student Pre
sident
.The January 32nd meeting (YES, that means February 1) is the opening bell to meet with th

Our meeting will be a
casual get-together to meet the students and encourage the next generation
of industry leadership. Bring your t
