The Excellence in Concrete (EIC) Awards provide our industry with an opportunity to honor architects, engineers, developers, and contractors for their excellence in concrete construction.

Sustainable Merit NEW

This new category allows projects to be recognized for the significant contribution of ready mix concrete to meet desired sustainable and or LEED objectives.

  • Any project from any category is eligible and may also remain as an entry in their appropriate category.
  • Provide a synopsis of sustainable/LEED credits achieved.

The Washington Aggregates & Concrete Association is pleased to formally recognize your professional accomplishments in the outstanding use of Ready Mix Concrete throughout Washington State. 

All entries are juried by an independent panel of industry professionals, comprised of the previous years award winning project teams.

Finalists and a category winner are selected from each of the eight categories.

The Grand Award winner will be the category winner that best reflects the unique advantages of Ready-Mix Concrete.

In recognition of their contribution to the award winning project, our Concrete Award will be presented to the Owner, Architect, Contractor, Structural Engineer, Concrete Contractor and Ready-Mix Supplier.

 

Submittal Guidelines

  • Projects must be located in Washington State
  • Projects are eligible for 2 years after their completion (from January 2008 - December 31, 2009)
  • Projects must be classified in one of the eight categories; Tilt-up Structures, Cast-in-Place Structures, Public Works, Sustinable Merit, Residential, Architectural/Decorative Concrete, Concrete Paving/Pervious Concrete or Special Applications
  • Precast elements must comprise of 45% or less of total concrete within project, precast only projects are ineligible
  • Submit as many projects as you wish. Each entry should be in a separate binder with its own submittal form

Submittal Format

  • Binders, photography, and project descriptions shall be free of firm names and logos.
  • Entry should be submitted in a single 8.5 x 11 - 3 ring binder.
  • Download the EIC Submittal Form and mail it to WACA.
  • A one page summary of project, describing the advantages of using ready mixed concrete, such as durability, sustainability, economy, constructability, lifecycle benefits, project aesthetics, compatibility with project environment, etc. This must be written on plain, letterhead free 8.5 x 11 stationary with project name only. (10 DPI min)
  • Quality photography required. Select photographs that best represent your project in both finished and during construction phases.  One set of seven digital photos (JPEG format 640x480 or larger resolution). A hard print of all disk photography (8X10) required in submittal binder. For best results use quality photo paper (No zip discs), OR  One set of seven color slides and a set of two 8x10 color photographs.
  • All binders and photography shall be retained by Washington Aggregates and Concrete Association for publicity use at our discretion. Entries will not be returned.
  • Finalists will be notified by R.S.V.P. invitation to attend the Awards Presentation Banquet April 29th, 2010. The winners in each category will be held confidential until the banquet. All entrants are cordially invited to attend the banquet.
