Washington Aggregates & Concrete Association

About WACA

Who we are and what we do...

Founded in 1959, The Washington Aggregates & Concrete Association is a non profit industry trade association representing sand, gravel, quarry rock, cement, ready mix concrete, related businesses and suppliers in Washington State. The Association is dedicated to strengthening our collective industry and to keep it abreast of the changing way we do business.

The Association represents the industry to the State Legislature, to educate and inform them of natural resource and general business issues that provide impacts and opportunities. Strives to work with all related state agencies to promote a positive and cooperative relationship while providing mutual education regarding agency objectives and balancing production, economics and promoting practicable and achievable compliance.

The Association always encourages our member companies to take an active role in and promote environmental leadership and responsible environmental practices, become active within their communities and work cooperatively with neighborhood associations, local governments and our neighbors.

The Association conducts 4 major meetings per year: Our Legislative Workshop, held in January, our Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards program held in May, our Annual Family Summer Meeting held in late summer and our Winter Workshop that deals with technical, environmental, general business and related issues. On occasion, we are fortunate to conduct joint meetings with our sister associations in British Columbia Canada and Oregon, and also co-sponsor local events with our national associations. National Associations we are affiliated with include:

- National Ready Mix Concrete Association (NRMCA)

- National Stone Association (NSA)

- National Aggregates Association (NAA)

- Portland Cement Association (PCA)

- American Concrete Institute (ACI)

- American Concrete Paving Association (ACPA)

Our committee structure is designed to reflect the areas of interest of the industry and include:

Environmental Committee - Deals with changing environmental issues, provides guidance and communications with related state agencies and to the general membership.

Promotion Committee - Takes an active role in the promotion and the general marketing of aggregates and concrete related products and emphasizes proper construction practices, which reflect and enhance actual product performance. Create general awareness of new and existing product applications.

Technical Committee - Works directly with the WSDOT, public works agencies and general specifiers, to suggest proper specification changes, provide technical expertise to the WSDOT and others, review specifications and creates an active network of quality control personnel to communicate product performance, challenges and technical solutions.

The Association and it's members are extremely proud of the products and services we provide to our communities and to our quality of life in Washington State. Our products of concrete. aggregates and asphalt, have helped to build the foundation of Washington State and will help shape it's future. Our membership is always working toward new environmental, land use and community solutions, to promote a cooperative relationship with the citizens that we serve and the communities that we share.
